Performance Fading the lights

Fading the Lights, 2010

Performance, spotlight, mirrors, collective participation

Residency Arc Landscape ESACM Port of Le Havre

A beam of light transmitted and multiplied by mirrors in the darkness of the port. Sending a signal into the night — the same gesture as astronomy, the same gesture as prayer. Light as language, darkness as the condition of transmission.
This performance marks the starting point of a line that runs through the entire practice: sending a signal into the darkness, transmitting information through light. This gesture foreshadows We Are Alive, Prayer Wheel, and ultimately the ALMA antennas that capture invisible frequencies in the darkest desert in the world. Even before research named its concepts, the body already knew: the observer is part of the phenomenon they emit.
