gate I / pillars of creation, 2023
Double print on fabric · 84 × 390 cm
The images from the James Webb telescope printed twice on fabric: the weave of the textile and the cosmic weave overlap, creating a moiré — this optical phenomenon of visual vibration born from the meeting of two weaving systems. The fabric — matter of intimacy, of the body, of the everyday — becomes the support for a cosmic image 6,500 light-years away. And the title itself — Pillars of Creation — reveals how the scientific community establishes, without calling it that, a contemporary mythological narrative: celestial bodies and cosmic phenomena receive names that carry the full power of foundational stories. Two systems of reading overlap without reducing one to the other: it is in this in-between that the work exists.
