Drawing the Orion nebula in charcoal — it’s tracing the cosmos with your own matter. Carbon is the fundamental element of life and of stars: the same atom that makes up our cells composes the stars that die and are reborn. The dust of the stars and the dust of the drawing are one and the same. The act of drawing becomes an act of recognition — conscious matter tracing the cosmic matter from which it originates. A return to the origin inscribed in the black of charcoal.
