Blood on paper · 50 × 65 cm

The tetractys — a Pythagorean figure of ten points arranged in a triangle — is the first mathematical description of the fundamental harmonies of the world: the four elements, musical intervals, the structure of the universe. Drawn with the artist’s blood, this ancestral figure becomes an act of inclusion: literally inscribing oneself into the constructive structures of the cosmos, both as subject and as material. Blood — organic, living, ephemeral matter — meets the permanence of a 2,500-year-old mathematical form. Deep time and human time converge in the act of drawing.
